Mallory's story
Mallory is doing absolutely fantastic and for the first time in her little life she is in a good "place"!!! Without you I'm not sure she would even be with us right now and words cannot express my gratitude for you and all the help you have given me to transition her to living a healthy, full life. Below is my story about Mallory and how your diet and supplement recommendations have saved her life.
In December 2006, at about the age of 14 months Mallory, a Lab mix, came to us by chance through our local animal shelter as a foster dog to help her transition through a Liver Shunt Repair Surgery and to wean her off medications that were literally keeping her alive. She was on so many different medications that I had to make a spreadsheet to track her schedule. Although she was very sick, after three days of having her in our home, we knew we had to adopt her as soon as the agency released her. Little did we know we were beginning a long road filled with a very sick dog and many trips to the Veterinary.
About a year after Mallory's Liver Shunt Repair Surgery, she began to have Chronic Urinary Tract Infections ( UTIs) that occurred about every three months. This began a four year cycle of UTIs, antibiotic treatments, multiple tests to determine the cause of the UTIs and a veterinary prescribed low protein diet. Throughout this time, Mallory displayed a very low appetite, low energy and a general sense of depression. Although several tests were performed, the reason for her chronic UTIs could not be determined and in November of 2012 Mallory went into acute Kidney failure. By the grace of God she survived and was then put on a "maintenance antibiotic" for the rest of her life.
The antibiotic was supposed to prevent UTIs from returning, but within three months she broke through with another UTI. I had recently lost my Golden Retriever to Liver complications secondary to long-term Steroid use and at this point I was beyond devastation. Putting her through another very expensive veterinary procedure to “possibly” determine the cause of the UTIs no longer made sense. Her Veterinary is wonderful and had done everything he could to diagnose the cause but I knew we had tried everything and she was not getting better. So I began my search on the internet to find a holistic/organic approach that could relieve Mallory from her life of sickness. This is when I found Cindy & Rick's website and when Mallory began her journey to living a healthy, full, energetic life.
Through Rick and Cindy's gentle guidance to change Mallory's diet and add proper probiotic and enzyme supplements, I was able to easily wean Mallory from her prescription commercial low protein food. Through several emails and articles Rick and Cindy explained to me how the old diet was poisoning her liver and how her liver was too toxic to recover. Whenever I had a question or concern, they were available to help me; either through email or by phone. They provided such good articles and information about the toxicity caused by unhealthy diets I began telling everyone I knew.
After the changes I've seen in Mallory, I cannot imagine why anyone would ever feed their dog anything else but a real food diet. For the first time Mallory is excited about eating, jumping in the air while I am preparing her food because she cannot wait. The most amazing testament to Rick & Cindy is that Mallory has been UTI free for nine months! Because of them, she is completely off all medication!! Her coat looks amazing and her energy level is off the charts.
Words cannot adequately express how grateful we are to you both for the difference you have made in our lives. I'm certain Mallory would not be alive today without you. My husband, children and I will continue to be a local advocate for you and your work. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! May all the blessings you've provided to save our furry baby be returned to you tenfold.
